Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. (Gen 25: 33)
Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn; I have done just as you told me; please arise, sit and eat of my game, that your soul may bless me.” (Gen 27: 19)
The earth is the LORD’S, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. (Ps 24:1)
Esau had sold his birthright to Jacob therefore the blessing of Abraham belonged to him. Deceiving his father was not necessary at all. Esau was only trying to claim what no longer belonged to him. Jacob should have been strong enough to resist his mother’s agitation and encouraged her to inform her husband of what God told her.
And the children were fighting together inside her, and she said, If it is to be so, why am I like this? So, she went to put her question to the Lord. And the Lord said to her, Two nations are in your body, and two peoples will come to birth from you: the one will be stronger than the other, and the older will be the servant of the younger.(Gen 25:22, 23)
Jacob should have walked up to his father to explain the transaction that took place between him and Esau; he should have reminded Esau of the swearing. (Gen 25: 33)
I believe that even if Isaac was dull of perception until he wanted to lay hands on Esau to bless him, he would have picked it in the spirit that it belonged to Jacob at some point. After all, Samuel almost made a similar mistake of anointing Eliab but God corrected him just before he did. The scripture is written for our learning, learn from this story!
The devil still uses the same old tricks to tempt children of God to do something wrong to obtain what already belongs to them. He tempted Esau with getting bread in the wrong way, from his father’s house, he failed. He tempted Jacob with getting the blessing that already belonged to him in the wrong way, he failed. He tempted Jesus to also get bread the wrong way (by following his method), and fall down to worship him so that he could give him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. Can you imagine that? The earth belongs to Jesus. All things were created by Him as the WORD of God, yet the devil tempted Him to worship him to have what already belonged to Him.
Whatever you need in life is already yours in Christ Jesus. You are blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places. Everything you need in life is contained in that blessing. Locate the promise of God that deals with your need, get adequate knowledge about it, go to your father, and claim it. Remind him of his promise concerning that thing, exercise faith, claim and confess it until it manifests physically.
So then, no one is to be boasting in people. For all things belong to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. (1 Cor 13:21&22)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. (Ephe 1:3)
or His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. Through these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world on account of lust. (2 Peter 1:3&4)
If you try to get anything without following the principles of the word of God like Esau or Jacob, you are bowing down to Satan and worshipping him at that moment. If you repent, God will definitely forgive you but you may suffer some consequences because words and actions are seeds. Jacob planted deception to get what already belonged to him and he reaped deception many times in the house of Laban, thereby delaying the manifestation of the blessing he sought. Don’t bow to the devil to claim your own property.
