Planning to start a dieting program?

You will definitely lose weight on dieting but the best way to lose weight and keep it away permanently is to eat just what the body needs, reduce carbohydrates and do exercise. Fasting, or excess fruits and vegetables or protein or fat at the expense of other food groups can make one lose weight but may not be healthy if practiced for a long time.  In order to remain healthy while you are losing weight, it is better to eat from all food groups and reduce carbohydrates to less than 130 g per day. Are you wondering how to count the gram? You don’t have to. Take only 2 portions of fruits and more than 3 portions of vegetables daily. Eat a lot of cooked vegetables along with starchy roots and tubers like yam, potatoes, gaari. Limit your portion size to less than the size of your fist but eat regularly (at least 3 times). Too little calorie will waste protein and seem like fasting to your body, thereby putting your body in a non-fat losing mode. That will ultimately make losing weight difficult after a while.

Reduce fat and oil especially saturated fat (fat from animal origin) and limit protein to 0.8g/kg. That amount of protein is like the size of a pack of cards. Too little protein is not healthy and too much protein can also destroy the kidney. As a lady, you can achieve that by eating one large size egg which contains 6 g of protein, 1 cup of rice (158g) which contains 4g of protein, 1 cup of cooked black-eye beans (cowpeas) which contains 13 g of protein and one serving of fish (100 g, about the size of 2 eggs) which contains 26 g of protein. Men need an amount slightly higher because of their higher body weight. #dieting
