Causes of Malnutrition

What causes under-nutrition?

• Inadequate food or nutrients intake due to poverty, food restrictions, taboo etc.
• Ignorance and improper preparation of foods
• Infections: When children are ill, they are prone to malnutrition.
• One or more nutrients not being digested or absorbed properly
• Urbanization: Parents are too busy to monitor what the children consume and they end up eating non-nutritious foods.
